    Description

Stagecoach by Walter Plunkett (1970s). Artist Signed Recreation Original Design and Sketch (15" X 20"). Western.
Costume designer Walter Plunkett had a long career of designing costumes for almost four decades, and best known for his designs in such films as Flying Down to Rio (1933), Little Women (1933), Gone with the Wind (1939), Singin' in the Rain (1952), An American in Paris (1951), and Forbidden Planet (1956), just to name a few. This 1970s recreation from Plunkett of one of Claire Trevor's outfits from Stagecoach shows the great details that was put into his designs. Starring Claire Trevor, John Wayne, Andy Devine, John Carradine, Thomas Mitchell, Louise Platt, George Bancroft, Donald Meek, Berton Churchill, Tim Holt, and Tom Tyler. Directed by John Ford. An unrestored item with bright color and a clean overall appearance. It may have general signs of use, such as slight edge wear, light smudges, or unobtrusive stains. Please Note: This artwork is believed to be from the 1970s as Plunkett continued to work until his retirement in 1966, and that the board in this lot is from Cowling & Wilcox Ltd. which formed in 1960. Please see full-color, enlargeable image above for more details. Very Fine.
