    Description

McCabe and Mrs. Miller (Warner Brothers, 1971). Poster (18" X 37") Advance. Western.
McCabe and Mrs. Miller was originally called The Presbyterian Church Wager, for a bet placed among the church's sparse parishioners as to whether McCabe (Warren Beatty) would survive his refusal of an offer to sell his whorehouse in the town of Presbyterian Church. Director Robert Altman is quoted as saying a ranking official in the Presbyterian Church complained to Warner Brothers about having their church mentioned in a film about brothels and gambling, and that this complaint caused the name change. This is a seldom seen advance poster with design by Anthony Goldschmidt, a top poster designer for many years (Blazing Saddles, The Lost Boys, Batman Forever, and many others). Apparently, this poster was never used, as it is in terrific condition with soft folds only. A great item for one of the only films Roger Ebert ever dubbed "perfect." Starring Warren Beatty, Julie Christie, Rene Auberjonois, William Devane, Shelley Duvall, Keith Carradine, Michael Murphy, John Schuck, Corey Fischer, Bert Remsen. Directed by Robert Altman.
