    Description

High Plains Drifter by Enzo Nistri (Universal, 1973). Very Fine+. Signed Original Gouache Artwork on Illustration Board (19.5" X 27.5") used for Italian 2- Fogli.
If Clint Eastwood was the classic anti-hero, he took it to extreme lengths in this Western. As the Stranger, he rides into town and proceeds to enforce his will on the citizens; apparently enacting vengeance upon them for their unwillingness to help the former town marshal as he was being murdered. At the end of the film, we realize that he may be an incarnation of the murdered marshal -- or was it an avenging angel from hell? Among the most prominent of Italian poster designers, Enzo Nistri gained commissions from all of the big name Hollywood studios, creating artwork for such films as Breakfast at Tiffany's, Godzilla, Planet of the Apes, Vertigo, and several more. Offered in this lot is a stunning one of a kind graphic from a classic Eastwood Western, making its Heritage debut. Skillfully painted in gouache and signed by the artist, the piece has remained in wonderful condition due in large part to the protective vellum cover attached with adhesive on the verso. It shows typical wear associated with handling and the artistic process, including slight edge wear, minor corner bumps, soft surface scuffs, and faint smudges. There are also pinholes in the upper border. An eye-catching piece full of vibrant color, this artwork will make an exceptional addition to any collection. Very Fine+.
