    Description

Dodge City (Warner Brothers, 1939). Three Sheet (41" X 81").
Errol Flynn had already mastered the swashbuckler genre with Captain Blood and The Adventures of Robin Hood so Jack Warner felt it was time to see what else his leading man could do. And to that end, he had the star temporarily retire his cutlass and trade it in for a Colt revolver. In Dodge City, and under the direction of Michael Curtiz, Flynn took on the Western and was cast as a sheriff who decides to clean up the lawless city and throw out the ruffians led by Bruce Cabot. He was backed up by an amazing cast, including two leading ladies (Olivia DeHavilland and Ann Sheridan), and his usual posse of Alan Hale and Guinn "Big Boy" Williams. To this day, Dodge City remains one of the finest Westerns of the era. There was paper loss in the lower section of the yellow title background and two sections of paper loss in the blue background with one area going into the second "N" in Flynn's credit. There was also some color touchup in the letters of the film's title. There was a bit of paper loss in Flynn's jaw line and in the lower edge of the background art and some of the border has been replaced. All of this was done with professional restoration and the poster appears very nice. Good/Very Good on Linen.
