Destry Rides Again (Universal, 1939). Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41") Style A.
The rarer of the two one sheet styles for the film, this style A poster for Destry Rides Again features wonderful portraits of stars James Stewart and Marlene Dietrich, as well as the extended cast. Interestingly, Stewart is depicted cocking a revolver, though his character in the film is a resolutely pacifistic, unarmed sheriff's deputy who uses his wits rather than violence to foil the criminals. Dietrich shines as the hard-bitten saloon girl who falls for the deputy, and the movie served to revitalize her career. Backed on linen, the poster had light fold wear and a few pinholes. Touchup was applied to the folds and airbrushing to parts of the border. The piece remains vibrant and presents well.
