    Description

    Col. Tim McCoy's Real Wild West (1938). Poster (53.5" X 40.75") & Unused Framed and Matted Ticket (2.5" X 5.5").
In 1938, Tim McCoy, one of the biggest Western stars of the late 1920s and early 1930s, produced what was to be the last of the traditional Wild West shows that had been made popular by such legendary figures as Buffalo Bill Cody. Featuring a traveling cast of professional cowboys, rodeo riders, and authentic American Indians, his show was only to last approximately three weeks before it folded, leaving McCoy with a loss of $300,000. This rare stone litho poster advertises his "Rough Riders of the World" act, featuring the skilled horsemanship of Russian Cossacks, Prussian cavalrymen, Mexican vaqueros, Argentinean gauchos, and more. Also offered is a rare, unused ticket to the short-lived show, already framed and matted for display. Restoration to the poster includes corrections to fold wear and separations, tears in the borders and interior, and chipping in the borders and folds. The borders have been airbrushed. The poster still shows foxing in the bottom half, and the linen has nearly been trimmed to the borders. Fine- on Linen.
