    Description

A Debtor to the Law (Pan American, 1919). One Sheet (27" X 40.5") Portrait Style.
Henry Starr has one of the most fascinating stories in film history. The real-life leader of a gang of bank robbers, Starr was shot and arrested after a botched heist in Oklahoma in 1915. After serving his time, he decided to make a film about his own crime. He raised money (legitimately) and returned to the same town to shoot the film. He even hired many of the people who were involved in the original events. There should have been a happy ending, but after Starr was cheated out of the profits of the film, he went back to his old life and was killed in another robbery gone bad. Professional restoration to this stone litho portrait has corrected fold wear, pinholes in the borders, creases, and some tears into the background at the top. There were small chips in the borders and folds. The lower portion of the poster with the credit and title areas has been recreated, and the poster's borders have been airbrushed. Very Good on Linen.
