    Description

A Debtor to the Law (Pan American, 1919). One Sheet (27" X 40.5") Portrait Style.
Henry Starr has one of the most fascinating stories in film history. The real-life leader of a gang of bank robbers, Starr was shot and arrested after a botched heist in Oklahoma in 1915. After serving his time, he decided to make a film about his own crime. He raised money (legitimately) and returned to the same town to shoot the film. He even hired many of the people who were involved in the original events. There should have been a happy ending, but after Starr was cheated out of the profits of the film, he went back to his old life and was killed in another robbery gone bad. This one sheet has touchup to the folds addressing chipping in the center horizontal fold and top crossfold, as well as tears into the title and tears with a hole into his hat. There are chips in the left and right borders and a small chip in the upper right. This poster comes with a wonderful custom made black frame which the buyer may have shipped to them. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
