    Description

Werewolf of London (Universal, 1935). Lobby Card (11" X 14").
Henry Hull was cast as the screen's first werewolf and appears dead at the bottom of the stairs in full makeup, on this classic montage lobby card, along with Warner Oland as the werewolf's antagonist, Dr. Yogami. Jack Pierce's original makeup for Hull was considered too horrific for the screen and wasn't used until Lon Chaney Jr. turned into the Wolf Man in 1941. Cards from this, the first of the Universal Wolf Man series, are very scarce and the title card from Werewolf of London is also included in this auction. This card has some restoration including airbrush work in the borders and the verso. There are repaired pinholes in the borders and a repaired small stain in the upper right on the wall behind the woman on the stairs. Fine.
