    Description

World War II Propaganda (U.S. Navy, 1942). Very Fine- on Linen. Recruitment Poster (28.25" X 42") "Dish It Out With the Navy!" McClelland Barclay Artwork.
Known for his propaganda artwork through both world wars, as well as several commercial pieces in the interwar years, McClelland Barclay was one of the best poster artists of his day. His patriotism would lead him to become a front line combat artist for the U.S. Navy, where he would lose his life after his vessel was torpedoed in 1943. Bearing one of his most recognizable images, this poster has received touchup to a small chip in the top right corner and shows edge wear, slight creases, and minor tears. There is a thin dust shadow along the bottom, faint unobtrusive staining, and some light foxing. Very Fine- on Linen.
