    Description

World War II Propaganda featuring Joe Louis & Other Lot (U.S. Government Printing Office, 1942). Motivational Flier (7.25" X 10") "Pvt. Joe Louis Says -" & British Magazine (16 Pages, 9.5" X 14.5"). War.
Joe Louis, well known heavyweight boxing champion, was the subject of this inspirational small hand-out poster printed by the US Government Printing Office in 1942. Louis was asked why he would be willing to join the US Army, since it was segregated, and he was an outspoken opponent of segregation. He simply remarked, "Lots of things wrong with America, but Hitler ain't going to fix them." Also included in this lot is a copy of the British magazine War in Pictures (l.T.A. Robinson Ltd., February 1942). An unrestored motivational flier and British magazine that display signs of use. May include light spine and edge wear, small edge tears, corner bends, slight cover separations, creases, very minor paper loss, pinholes, or unobtrusive stains. The magazine is folded horizontally. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Fine/Very Fine.
