    Description

World War II Lot (U.S. Government Printing Office, 1942). Poster (10" X 14.25") "He's Watching You," Glenn Grohe Artwork.
Although meant to encourage the use of wartime secrecy rules, a 1942 government survey of the general public discovered that this poster didn't quite convey its intended message. Due to its stylized artistry, many interpreted the German soldier's helmet to be the Liberty Bell, while several factory workers thought this was a representation of their demanding bosses. This helped spur the creation of the U.S. Office of War Information, so that designs could be reviewed and approved before distribution. The poster is in great shape and has only touchup to the folds. Artwork by Glenn Grohe. Very Fine+ on Linen.
