    Description

    World War II Document Lot (U.S. Government Printing Office, 1942-1946). Documents (16) ('6" X 8" to 13" X 21"). War.
This totally unique lot is a microcosm of the thoroughness of the US Government in implementing the raising of funds and the control of prices through the early 1940s for the war effort. They regulated the Victory Tax, and there is a V2 blank form in this lot, as well as printed pamphlets on employer's duties on collecting the tax, and an explanation to employees. There are two copies of the "Military and Naval Policy" which governed the sale of "intoxicating liquors" to members of the armed forces. There is a group of items from the War Price and Rationing Board concerning the ceiling prices that could be charged for food items. You had to submit your menus to the board, and there are two included in this lot, one small, one oversize (4 pages, 13" X 21"). In addition, there are 11" X 17" multiple page brochures outlining how cafes and theatres could decorate and advertise to help the war bond and war stamp sales. Included is a letter from a shipbuilding company in Richmond, California, recruiting employees to build war ships. There is an original US Government printed envelope included, which brings the total number of items in the lot to 16! Unrestored brochures, letters, menus, and pamphlets with bright color and a clean overall appearance. They may have general signs of use, such as slight fold separation and fold wear, or very minor tears. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Folded, Very Fine-.
