    Description

World War I Propaganda (U.S. Government Printing Office, 1918). Very Fine on Linen. Liberty Bonds Poster (20" X 29.75") "Beat Back the Hun," Frederick Strothmann Artwork.
One of the most macabre images of World War I propaganda, this poster shows a bloodthirsty German soldier looking over war-torn Europe, and across the Atlantic to America. Most of the Liberty Bond posters were inflammatory, but highly effective - Americans would purchase more than $23 billion worth of bonds to help the war effort. Featuring chilling artwork by Frederick Strothmann, this poster has a couple of minute tears and a small post-backing surface indentation. Touchup has been applied to a pinhole in the lower text and to two light creases in the bottom right corner. The linen has been trimmed nearly to the borders. Very Fine on Linen.
