World War I Propaganda (U.S. Food Administration, 1918). Folded, Fine/Very Fine. Propaganda Poster (36" X 56") "Save Food and Defeat Frightfulness, " Herbert Paus Artwork.
Presented here is a poster distributed by the U.S. Food Administration encouraging citizens to ration their food in order to support soldiers, nurses, and others most directly impacted at the frontline. The poster showcases imagery of wounded and displaced individuals gesturing towards a quote on the left attributed to John Greenleaf Whittier: "America, the hope of all who suffer - the dread of all who wrong." An unrestored poster that displays signs of use. May include edge and fold wear, creases, smudges and scuffs, crossfold separation, several tears, chips, graphite markings along the left border, mostly faint staining, significant fold separation, or surface rippling. There are several strips of cellophane tape on the verso.
