World War I Propaganda (U.S. Department of Treasury, 1918). Very Good on Linen. Fourth Liberty Loan Poster (21.75" X 33") "That Liberty Shall Not Perish from the Earth," Joseph Pennell Artwork.
In this striking poster by Joseph Pennell, the severed head of the Statue of Liberty rests in the rubble beside the ruins of her destroyed body, while New York City burns in a fiery inferno. The haunting imagery serves as a stark warning to viewers, portraying a grim future if citizens fail to offer their support. A restored poster that may be slightly brittle due to age. Airbrushing, light touchup, and some replacement has addressed edge wear, creases, significant tears, moderate chips and chipping along the borders, and a complete tear that begins along the bottom border, reaches up through the image, and out to the upper right border. Thanks to this expert restoration, it now presents beautifully. Grades on all restored items are pre-restoration grades.
