    Description

World War I Propaganda (Salvation Army, 1919). Trimmed Home Service Fund Poster (29.5" X 39.5") "A Man May Be Down But He's Never Out." War.
Offered in this lot is a World War I Salvation Army drive poster for the Home Service Fund campaign that was held on May 19-26, 1919. The image, by artist Frederick Duncan, portrays a woman, clad in her Salvation Army uniform raising her hand above a group of destitute people, and having her cloak be wrapped around a young girl. An unrestored poster that may be slightly brittle due to age, show some edge wear, creases, tears, very minor paper lifts, minor surface rippling, very minor paper loss, some staining. There is a 9 inch vertical tear in the lower section of the poster. It is most likely in need of some degree of work or restoration. Due to the poster being back onto a board, the highest grade this item can have is VG/F, and shipping costs will be higher than normal. Please see full-color, enlargeable image below for more details. Very Good- on Cardstock.
