    Description

    World War I Propaganda Poster Lot (U.S. Food Administration, 1918). World War I Posters (2) No. 14 (21" X 29") "Keep it Coming...Waste Nothing" & Poster No. 16 (21" X 29") "Blood or Bread." War.
Featured are two WWI posters distributed by the U.S. Food Administration. The first titled "Keep it Coming... Waste Nothing." When President Woodrow Wilson appointed Herbert Hoover as head of the Food Administration, Hoover decided to cut domestic consumption of foods needed overseas to avoid rationing for America. However the Food Administration did support rationing in order to feed more soldiers and their families while their men were overseas. This poster features a quote by General John J. Pershing and artwork by George Illian. Also included is a poster titled "Blood or Bread" which depicts soldiers on the front line by artist Henry Raleigh and implores the people at home to avoid squandering away food during the harsh times overseas to help keep the soldiers going. Unrestored posters that may have edge wear, tears, paper loss, and general age wear, as well as brittleness, insect damage, some toning and color fading, stains, tape, or tape stains. They may be in need of restoration. Please see full-color, enlargeable image above for more details. Rolled, Good.
