    Description

World War I Propaganda (Edwards & Deutsch Litho Co., 1918). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. Third Liberty Loan Poster (35.75" X 55.5") "To Make the World a Decent Place," Herbert Paus Artwork.
Artist Herbert Paus, encourages citizens to do their part with this patriotic poster featuring a moving and dramatic image of soldiers against a red sky, as an American Flag soars in the background. Though Paus worked on advertising campaigns for Victor Records and Hart, Schaffner and Marx, as well as creating numerous covers for Popular Science Monthly, many consider his World War I posters to be the highlight of his career. This stone litho poster had restoration applied to fold wear and separation, creases, pinholes, and a few tears. Also addressed were some of the small surface scuffs as well as a minor chip with a splice. A few of the surface scuffs are still visible. The linen has been trimmed nearly to the borders.
