World War I Propaganda (Credit Commercial de France, 1918). Very Fine+ on Linen. French 4th National Defense Loan Poster (31.5" X 47") "Subscribe to Victory," Lucien Jonas Artwork. Much like other countries strapped for cash during the First World War, France helped finance their growing national debt through a series of civilian bond programs. Originally an artist with a much more impressionist style, Lucien Jonas gained his most renown through exceptionally detailed war posters like this stunning example, often featuring depictions of charging soldiers and the French Marianne. No touchup has been applied to the poster, which shows only a couple of minor flaws like slight fold wear and a couple of mild creases. Very Fine+ on Linen.

    Estimate: $600 - $1,200.
