    Description

World War I Propaganda (American National Red Cross, 1918). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. Poster (28" X 30") "Christmas Roll Call." Harrison Fisher Artwork. War.
Harrison Fisher gives us an image of doughboys marching to war, while a nurse pleads for aid from American civilians. Although World War I had ended by Christmas 1918, the Red Cross was still active in areas devastated by the war. They set up the Christmas Roll Call to encourage support for their endeavors during that first Christmas season after the fighting had ended. Light touchup has been applied to a tear from the right border extending into the image. Still apparent are a few tears, minor chips, pinholes, and thin dust shadows. A couple of the chips have splices. The linen has been trimmed nearly to the borders.
