    Description

    What Price Glory (Fox, 1926). Window Cards (2) (14" X 22") and Autographed Stage Play Program (9" X 12").
Directed by Raoul Walsh and based on the hit 1924 stage play by Lawrence Stallings and Maxwell Anderson, this harrowing WWI drama stars Edmund Lowe and Victor McLaglen as rival Marines on the front lines in France. Their competition extends to the romancing of the daughter (Dolores Del Rio) of a local innkeeper. The film caused quite a stir on its original release when lipreaders realized that Lowe and McLaglen were exchanging some rather extreme profanities which were not included in the titles! Heritage is pleased to present for the first time two evocative stone litho window cards with vibrant color. Also included in this lot is an autographed program from the stage performance of What Price Glory (c. 1949) presented by the Masquers Club of Hollywood. The fourteen page program is signed by Pat O'Brien, George O'Brien, Harry Carey, Jr., William Lundigan, Wallace Ford, and McDonald Summers. The performance also starred John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara, and Oliver Hardy. Heritage believes the signatures in this lot to be authentic, but know before bidding that no Certificate of Authenticity is included. The window cards show tack holes in the image area, slight surface paper loss in the bottom borders, and light staining in the left and right border. The program has a light vertical crease down the center. Fine+.
