    Description

War Propaganda Poster (ca. 1918). World War I Poster (28" X 42"). "Be a U.S. Marine" Recruitment Poster. James Montgomery Flagg, most famously known for his "Uncle Sam Wants YOU!" poster, created many others such as this Marine recruiting poster. Mounted on linen, this poster has a 12" vertical tear down from the top center edge, and a number of smaller edge tears. Pinholes, minor surface abrasions, tape stains and other staining. Very slight fading to colors. The poster has received color touch-up work, particularly in the white areas and the red bars of the flag. The address of the enlistment office in the area for which this poster was intended is printed in the bottom border (Cincinnati). Very Good/Fine on Linen.
