    Description

U.S. Army Recruitment (c. 1910). Poster (28" X 40") "Men Wanted for the Army," Michael R. Whelan Artwork.
During the Mexican-American Border War of 1910-1919 and the build-up of tensions in Europe prior to World War I, the U.S. Army was working diligently to make the transition from horseback to a modern mechanized force. The colorful artwork by Michael R. Whelan showed recruits some of what they could expect when they joined the Army. This poster has touchup to the fold lines with some fold separation within the image, a couple of tears on the left and right borders that go slightly into the image, and minor chipping in the border that extends into the image. The borders have been airbrushed, with the exception of the bottom border. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
