    Description

The Train (United Artists, 1965). British Quad (30" X 40").
One glance at this tumultuous, flaming British quad, and it's obvious this was no uneventful film. Burt Lancaster plays Labiche, a French railway inspector, in a complex war time spy thriller. With Allied forces on the verge of liberating Paris, German Colonel Franz von Waldheim (Paul Scofield ) is commanded to strip the priceless works of art from the Jeu de Paume Museum and transport them to Germany. The head of the museum (Suzanne Flon) attempts to convince Labiche that he should sabotage the train on which they are hijacking the art. Labiche is more focused on destroying a trainload of German weapons, but his conscious is sparked after a conversation with hotel owner (Jeanne Moreau )and he resolves to save the precious cultural treasures. Director John Frankenheimer and Lancaster had also successfully teamed together on Birdman of Alcatraz and Seven Days in May. Artist Frank McCarthy's captivating artwork tells much of the action, and the fine condition of the poster makes it an excellent collectible. Minor imperfections include pinholes in the corners, tape stains in the corners and left border, a stain in the bottom border, and chips in the upper right and left corners. Rolled, Fine/Very Fine.
