    Description

The Spirit of the Red Cross (Red Cross, 1918). One Sheet (28" X 41") James Montgomery Flagg Artwork.
James Montgomery Flagg, one of the most prolific American illustrators and poster designers of the early 20th century, created this poster to advertise his venture in film making as well. This was a short subject he wrote about a young man who goes off to war in Europe, is followed by his girlfriend who is in the Red Cross, and is saved by her as well when he is wounded in battle. Touchup has been applied to the folds, a horizontal crease, and mild border tears. There was a tear in the lower border into the background, and the poster has a reattached chip in the lower left corner. Very Fine- on Linen.
