    Description

The Great Escape (United Artists, R-1970s). Very Fine on Linen. International Concept One Sheet (26.75" X 39.5"). Frank McCarthy Artwork.
Historical accuracy aside, this is one of the great WWII dramas with an extraordinary ensemble cast. The credits read like a who's who of talent: Steve McQueen, James Garner, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, David McCallum, Richard Attenborough, and Donald Pleasence (who had actually been a POW in a German camp during the last year or so of World War II). Heritage believes that this particular international version was meant for a 1970s re-release as this poster lacks the United Artists' logo and printer's mark. Only a scarce handful of this style of poster has ever made it to auction and Heritage is aware that there is a 1970s re-release international style three sheet possessing many of the same design elements as this one sheet version. Prior to linenbacking, the condition of this first time offering was excellent, with only a few minor issues needing to be addressed, such as touchup to the folds, soft handling creases, light surface blemishes, and small tears.
