    Description

In Which We Serve (Gaumont, 1942). Title Lobby Card (11" X 14") and Lobby Cards (6) (11" X 14"). Noel Coward was nervous directing, since his experience had been entirely in the theatre, so he asked young John Mills if he knew of anyone who might give him a hand. Mills suggested "the best editor in the country." His name was David Lean and this was his first effort at directing a feature film. Coward's patriotic war movie captures the mood of Britain in 1942 and starts off with a narrative voice intoning the message: "This is the story of a ship." The film won an Honorary Academy Award, presented to Coward for "his outstanding production achievement." These lobby cards have light soiling, and an edge tear on one card. Very Fine+.
