    Description

For Whom the Bell Tolls by Dudley Nichols (Paramount, 1942). Fine/Very Fine. Original Revised Final Script (198 Pages, 8.5" X 11").
Dudley Nichols' script, an adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's novel of the same name, follows the story of an American language teacher (Gary Cooper) who becomes involved in fighting for the Republican guerilla forces against the fascists (supported by the Nazis). During this time he meets a woman freedom fighter (Ingrid Bergman) whom he falls in love with. After the success of Casablanca, Bergman was a natural to be cast in a film about a romance set against a backdrop of war, and in fact she was hand-picked by Hemingway for the role. The film would be nominated for several Oscars including Best Picture, Actress, and Actor. Signs of handling include mild edge wear with small tears, soft creases, binding holes, and unobtrusive stains. The first and second pages of the script have studio ink stamps in the upper right corner, and the front and back pages have a few minor chips. This script comes with no wrappers or binding.

    Estimate: $500 - $1,000.
