    Description

    Federal Children's Bureau (W.F. Powers Co, 1918). Children's Year (29.5" X 19.5") Francis Mora Artwork.
The early 1900s were a time in which the United States began to change its stance on child labor and end its abusive practices. As more advocates dug deeper into the issue, they recognized that the federal government was not yet fully engaged in addressing the physical needs or mental well-being of children. It was not until President Taft signed a bill making the Children's Bureau part of the Federal Government that the needs of children began to be addressed on a much larger scale. This wonderful image by artist Francis Mora, created for the U. S. Children's Bureau and Woman's Defense Committee of the Council of National Defense, depicts a group of children walking together in joyous unity. The poster has been professionally restored, correcting only slight border wear and small tears. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
