DescriptionArmy Field Artillery (U.S. Army, 1919). Very Fine on Linen. Recruitment Poster (18.75" X 25") "Adventure and Action," Major Harry S. Mueller Artwork. After more than 117,000 casualties among the American ranks during WWI, the United States Army was in need of replacement manpower and a new way to attract recruits. Rather than focusing on patriotic duty as they had during the war, the military returned to advertising the "Action and Adventure" a young man could find within the armed forces. No touchup has been applied to this Heritage first, which still shows mild edge wear, a couple of minor tears, unobtrusive smudges, and a top left corner bend. Most of thee issues are seen at the top edge of the poster, and it is otherwise in good shape for its age. Very Fine on Linen.
Estimate: $600 - $1,200.
