DescriptionUnder Four Flags (World Film Corporation, 1918). One Sheet (28" X 41.25") Philip Martiny Artwork. The third propaganda film produced by the U.S. government came out too late for its intended purpose, since the Armistice happened just a week before the film was released. The documentary about U.S., French, British and Italian joint efforts in WWI was instead supplemented with celebration footage on its release. The excellent artwork for this piece comes courtesy of artist Philip Martiny, and restoration to the poster includes work on horizontal creases, tears into the background, and border chips. The borders have been airbrushed and the linen has been trimmed to the border, but not into the poster itself. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
