Description

    Trader Horn (MGM, 1931). Three Sheet (41" X 81"). Style A.
Nominated for a Best Picture Academy Award, this African safari hit is based on the real-life adventures of Alfred Aloysius Horn. Directed by W.S. Van Dyke, it is the first feature film to be shot on location in Africa, and stars Harry Carey, Edwina Booth, Duncan Renaldo, Mutia Omoolu, and Olive Carey. Numerous misfortunes plagued filming, such as swarming locusts, insect attacks, flash floods, and even two deaths by wildlife attacks (one of which was filmed and included in the picture). This gorgeous stone litho three sheet shows only some crossfold separation, a small tear, and minor dust shadowing in the left border. The poster is in three sections, as originally printed. Original release paper for this film has always been very rare. This is the first time we have sold this style, which may be the only extant copy of the poster! Very Fine.
