    Description

Tobor the Great (Republic, 1954). Very Fine- on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
After Gort made a huge impression on audiences in The Day the Earth Stood Still, producers scrambled to find the next big automaton for the screen. Republic created Tobor, that's robot spelled backwards, as a test pilot for future space exploration. The film also borrowed from the prior year's success with Invaders From Mars by telling the story through a young boy's perspective. Restoration has been applied to slight fold wear and separations, pinholes, small tears, and a couple of minor chips. There are a few partially addressed unobtrusive stains. This poster is a highly desirable piece, one of the best of the 1950s robot posters.

    Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
