DescriptionThrone of Blood (Curzon Films, 1957). Very Fine- on Linen. Silk Screen British Quad (30" X 40").
Akira Kurosawa's adaptation of Macbeth combines aspects of Shakespeare with Japanese Noh drama, with its use of masks and Buddhist philosophy, to make a stunning reimagining of the "Scottish Play." Kurosawa favorite actor Toshiro Mifune is the military commander who comes across a ghost woman in the fog after a battle. Of course, much like the original play, the woman's prophesy that Mifune will become emperor is brought to fruition with the help of murder. It's only Heritage's second time to offer any British paper for the film, and this eye-catching piece has had professional corrections to fold wear and slight separations, pinholes, small tears, and surface wear. The borders and parts of the background have been airbrushed.
Estimate: $600 - $1,200.
