    Description

This Gun for Hire (Paramount, 1942). One Sheet (27" X 41").
This Gun for Hire easily reigns as the standard by which all other film noirs are measured. It was the first pairing of Alan Ladd and Veronica Lake, a duo that would become icons of the genre. The film was so popular that both of their careers exploded and the pair became an onscreen team that was featured together in several other pictures. Ladd is sensational as a hit man who seeks revenge against a man who double crossed him, and teams with Lake in an uneasy alliance. This highly coveted one sheet prominently features Lake, on the cusp of super-stardom, staring pointedly out from behind her "peek-a-boo" hairstyle, which would soon become her trademark. Over the years, the one sheet format for this title has remained one of the most sought after in the hobby. Touchup was applied to the folds, a chip and small tears in the left border, a sliver of missing paper in the right border, a small chip at Lake's hairline, in Lake's hair on the right side, a chip just above the credits, and tears in the bottom right blue background. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.
