Description

The Wolf Man (Universal, 1941). Autographed Half Sheet (22" X 28").
The Wolf Man, which was originally released in theaters in December of 1941 became an instant classic and one of the most successful of the new series of Universal Horror movies, which also helped to establish Lon Chaney, Jr., as the new star for the studio. Chaney, son of silent film era great, Lon Chaney, would struggle for years to find a leading role to showcase his acting chops. In this film, Chaney would finally find the signature part he was seeking, calling the character his "baby," and playing the monster a total of five times in film. Along with Dracula and Frankenstein, The Wolf Man is widely considered one of the top-tiers of Universal Studio monsters. Offered in this lot is a wonderful copy of the half sheet signed by the legendary actor, who originated the lycanthropic role. Originally sold by Universal Studios, this is a wonderful piece to add to your horror collection. The poster was missing a larger piece of the upper right corner which did just extend into the top of the "N" in the title. The colors have been enhanced throughout and the borders have been airbrushed. This is the only copy of this poster that we are aware of that was signed by Chaney. The poster was originally folded.
