    Description

The Wedding March (Paramount, 1928). Insert (14" X 36"). From the Collection of Frank Buxton, of which the sale's proceeds will benefit The San Francisco Silent Film Festival.
It was an all Erich von Stroheim production as he wrote, directed and starred in this is a tale of a Prince who wants to marry for love and not for money, which is what his family wants him to do. This was originally to be Stroheim's masterpiece and was supposed to have a running time of over four hours, however, the studio brought in another editor, took control from von Stroheim and released their own version. This original insert has touchup applied to surface wear, creasing, and a sliver of paper loss along the right border. The creasing is still somewhat visible, and there are unaddressed surface scuffs. The poster's borders have been airbrushed, and there is a post-restoration tear from the right border into the "G" of "Wedding." Fine+on Paper.

    Estimate: $1,500 - $3,000.
