DescriptionThe War of the Worlds (Paramount, 1956). Second Edition Italian 4 - Fogli (55" X 78") Franco Fiorenzi Artwork.
Both Cecil B. DeMille and Alfred Hitchcock had some interest in directing this famous H.G. Wells story, but it was producer George Pal who brought the book to the screen. With a budget of two million dollars, Pal spent 70% on special effects alone, using the most cutting-edge technology of the day. The Wells estate was so happy with the finished product, they offered Pal his choice of other stories. He picked The Time Machine. A second edition poster from the film's Italian release, this piece has edge and fold wear, fold separations, pinholes, creases, and border tears. One of the tears extends into the "L" of the title. There are chips and mild toning in the borders and folds, and the poster has masking tape at some of the edges and folds with tape stain bleedthrough. Folded, Fine+.
Estimate: $3,000 - $6,000.
