    Description

The Two Orphans (Fox, R-1918). Fine+ on Linen. Six Sheet (80" X 82").
Theda Bara was one of the most popular actresses of the silent era, and considered one of cinema's earliest sex symbols. Bara made more than forty films between 1914 and 1926, unfortunately most of which were lost in the 1937 Fox vault fire. Known for "vamp" roles and revealing costumes, Bara hoped this film might lead to more roles outside of her femme fatale persona. This beautiful stone litho poster has benefitted from restoration to slight creasing, some tears and chips in the folds, fold separations, and paper loss in the borders of the upper left panel. The upper and middle right panels are from a different printing than the rest of the poster and part of the upper right border has been added during restoration to match the width of the other panels. Still visible is very faint image ghosting as well as toning. The upper border and parts of the image have been airbrushed.

    Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
