Description

The Three Stooges in Three Little Beers (Columbia, 1935). Lobby Card (11" X 14").
Here it is, one of the best lobbies to ever feature the Three Stooges, Curly, Moe and Larry. Looking as smug and puffed-up as they ever could, the trio desperately try to fit in to the elite social set of the private Golf Club. Think the PGA has anything to worry about? Well, actually they do as the boys proceed to get in a few practice rounds so they can enter a beer company tournament and then proceed to destroy the course. No one was better than the Three Stooges at slapstick comedy and in fact, it could be argued that they defined the genre. Their shorts from 1934 to 1936 are considered their best works and this one falls right in the middle of that period. The boys were at their best when making a mockery of the elite or bringing them down to their level with pie fights, eye gouges, hair rips, stomach pokes and the proverbial cheek slaps. This lobby has had minor restoration to replace a very slight 1/8" trim around the edges, but other than that, it absolutely shines as one of the best (if not the best) portraits of the comedic legends we've ever seen. The cards in this set were acquired from The Joan Howard Maurer Collection who received them from her father, Moe Howard himself. Fine+.
