DescriptionThe Three Bears (Powers ComiColor, 1935). Fine+ on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
This incredibly elusive poster was inspired by one of the 25 animated short subjects in the "ComiColor Cartoon" series produced by the Ub Iwerks studio from 1933 to 1936. Most of the entries in the series were based upon popular fairy tales and familiar stories such as Jack and the Beanstalk, Old Mother Hubbard, The Bremen Town Musicians and The Headless Horseman. Many of the shorts were filmed using Iwerks' multiplane camera, which he built himself from the remains of a Chevrolet automobile. Based on the beloved children's bedtime story, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, this film is delightful from start to finish, and has a darling one sheet to match. Professional restoration has addressed edge and fold wear, small tears, and some chips in the borders and folds. There was a diagonal tear at the top through some of the upper text on the left. The borders and parts of the blue background have been airbrushed. There are a few minor post-restoration paper lifts in the background. Fine+ on Linen.
Estimate: $800 - $1,600.
