DescriptionThe Third Man (Minerva, 1949). Very Fine- on Linen. Italian 2 - Fogli (39.25" X 55") Angelo Cesselon Artwork.
The Third Man is set in post-war Vienna, and tells the story of novelist Holly Martins Joseph Cotten) as he attempts to unravel the mystery surrounding the murder of his friend, Harry Lime (Orson Welles). Although the production of this film was fraught with challenges, including difficult behavior on Welles' part and outrageous demands by producer David O. Selznick, the picture was a box office sensation, and has become one of the most important films of the period. Heritage has never before offered this impressive large format poster, featuring Angelo Cesselon's moody artwork that perfectly matches the film's dark atmosphere. Restoration has addressed light edge and fold wear, slight fold separations, and pinholes. There were minor chips and tears, as well as a tear through the "a" of "Cannes," and another tear through the distributor credit. Very Fine- on Linen.
Estimate: $2,500 - $5,000.
