The Taxi Dancer (MGM, 1927). Good- on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 40.5"). From the Mike Kaplan Collection.
Heritage is pleased to present this lovely stone litho one sheet, the only known surviving copy, for the first time. Of special note to collectors, this picture also marks Joan Crawford's first instance receiving top billing on a poster, a prelude to her future superstardom in the age of talkies. Crawford would become an icon of the free-spirited, 1920s flapper persona, due in large part to films like Taxi Dancer, as well as her 1928 hit, Our Dancing Daughters. She's shown here alongside costar Owen Moore, a dramatic illustration that has benefitted from conservation to fold wear and separations, pinholes, chipping and paper loss in the borders and folds, as well as large tears into the image. The borders, yellow background, orange background, parts of the image, the title, and most of the text have been airbrushed. Presenting very well after these corrections, the poster is now an excellent piece ready for display.

    Estimate: $3,000 - $6,000.
