Description

The Spy in Black (Minerva, 1946). First Post-War Release Italian 2 - Fogli (39.5" X 55.5") Luigi Martinati Artwork.
Listed by the National Board of Review as one of the 10 best films of 1939, this espionage thriller also holds the distinction of being the first collaboration between filmmakers Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, who would go on to make over 20 films together during the course of their partnership. Luigi Martinati brings the plot's tension to the fore with this moody illustration featuring a dark portrait of Conrad Veidt with a secretive exchange between Valerie Hobson and Sebastian Shaw in the background. There has been touchup to the folds, pinholes in the borders, and a few small border chips. There were a couple tears at the bottom with slight paper loss. Very Fine- on Linen.

    Estimate: $1,000 - $2,000.
