The Siren (Columbia, 1927). One Sheet (27" X 41") Style B.
The Siren (1927), is a very early film from director Byron Haskin, who would go on to make Walt Disney's first live action film Treasure Island (1950), The War of the Worlds (1953), and Robinson Crusoe on Mars (1964), among many others. The film stars one of the silent screen's notable vamps, Dorothy Revier (who appeared with Douglas Fairbanks Sr. two years later in The Iron Mask), along with Tom Moore and Norman Trevor. Revier is a cunning con artist who finds shelter in a log cabin when her car breaks down in a rainstorm. Moore, the owner of the cabin, returns to find Revier who later invites him to her mansion for a weekend party. Things get interesting when Revier's partner in crime (Trevor) tries to cheat Moore at cards. A fight, a fire and more deception follow. Lady charlatan Revier takes center stage, hypnotizing a group of unwitting marks on this superb stone litho one sheet. A first time offer from Heritage, this rare piece is in beautiful condition. Restoration has addressed a tear with paper loss in the upper left border and image area and the poster now displays beautifully. Fine+ on Linen.
