    Description

The Seven Year Itch (20th Century Fox, 1955). Title Lobby Card (11" X 14"). If there's a more iconic image of Marilyn Monroe than that of her skirt blowing up around her as seen on this fabulous lobby card, we have yet to see it! This particular scene in the film was originally shot on location at Lexington and 52nd Street in Manhattan, but the cheers and whistles of the bemused passers-by, all of which only served to anger and embarrass Monroe's then-husband Joe DiMaggio, made the footage unusable. Director Billy Wilder rebuilt the location on the 20th Century Fox lot and reshot the scene, which required more than 40 takes for Monroe to get it right. Note:This card was misdescribed as being Mint when in fact it has had restoration work which included pinholes in the corners and several in the image. The borders have had airbrush work and there is a small tear in the left border which slightly extends into the image. Fine.
