Description

The Seven Year Itch (20th Century Fox, 1955). Standee (40" X 78"). Of all of the displays and advertising material created for a film's release, standees are often the most rare. Due to the fact that they were large and harder to store, most were discarded after the film's run. This standee, from Marilyn Monroe's most famous film, is one of only a couple known to have survived and depicts her in the famous "subway grate" scene. Oddly enough, the original pressbook advertises a standee made with another photographic pose of Monroe and was never produced! They evidently changed the photo pose used at the last minute and distributed this standee to theater owners. The poster was rebacked with the same material originally used and the original easel is intact on the backside as well. There was just the most minor touch-up performed as the original piece before rebacking did not need any work other than to replace the frayed backing board. The piece now displays beautifully and we would say that the chances of finding a better condition copy are slim. Rebacked, Very Fine.
