    Description

The Searchers (Warner Bros., 1956). Fine/Very Fine on Linen. One Sheet (27" X 41").
Perhaps the greatest Western ever made, director John Ford filled this epic with his favorite company of players, including Ward Bond, Harry Carey Jr., Hank Worden and his greatest star, John Wayne. It's a grim story of an ex-confederate soldier (Wayne) with a dubious past, who sets out on a quest alongside the cousin (Jeffrey Hunter) of a young pioneer girl (Natalie Wood) who is kidnapped by warring indians. The tale is searing as Wayne portrays a loner, driven by his own convictions and personal code of honor, to seek justice, revenge for the desecration of the girls family. This poster, set against the backdrop of Utah's Monument Valley, depicts Wayne and Hunter, along with the mantra that sums up Wayne's obsession, "He had to find her." Prior to restoration, the poster had fold wear, pinholes, small tears, with small chips in the borders. The white background and borders have been airbrushed.

    Estimate: $3,000 - $6,000.
