DescriptionThe Searchers (Warner Bros., 1956). Fine on Linen. British Quad (30" X 40").
After years of making memorable Westerns together, John Wayne and director John Ford created their lasting masterpiece to the Western genre and to cinema itself when they released The Searchers. Many consider this to be one of the most scenic Westerns ever filmed and, with the beautiful sunset over Monument Valley featured on this gorgeous poster, it is not difficult to see why. The vast landscape pictured, empty save for the Mittens Buttes, John Wayne, and Jeffrey Hunter, helps to convey the conviction with which Wayne as Ethan Edwards searches for his niece in the film. Professional restoration has been applied to slight fold wear, creases, and a few tears. There are a few pinholes with minor stains still visible. The red and yellow backgrounds, part of the image background, and some of the text have been airbrushed and received some color enhancement.
Estimate: $3,000 - $6,000.
